Brice Mickey Consulting

Inclusion, equity & dialogue · Cincinnati

The conversations your organization keeps avoiding, held with care.

I help teams talk honestly about identity, power, and belonging, and then do something with what they hear. Storytelling-led, judgment-free, and built for rooms where not everyone wants to be there.

Doing this work now

The rules changed. The need didn't.

Many organizations are unsure what they can still say or do. Some have paused their work entirely. Your people still need to feel seen, and your leaders still need the skills to lead everyone.

I work with schools, nonprofits, and employers to keep that work going in ways that fit today's laws and policies.

  • Know where the lines areClear, current context on what has changed, such as Ohio's Senate Bill 1 and House Bill 8, and what it means for your role.
  • Keep relationships at the centerRestorative, people-first practices that build trust no matter the political weather.
  • Protect your peopleBoundaries and support for the staff doing this work, so they can keep doing it.

Keynote · Make-A-Wish Ohio, Kentucky & Indiana · Spring 2026

My approach

People don't change because they were shamed. They change because they felt safe enough to be honest.

My methods come from years of experiential intergroup dialogue: start with the data, make room for how people feel about it, then work on the culture that produced it.

Storytelling-led

Real stories, including mine, open doors that statistics alone can't.

Judgment-free

Everyone starts somewhere. The goal is growth, not a gotcha.

Vulnerability-forward

I model the openness I ask of participants, so the room follows.

Ready for resistance

Skeptical and reluctant audiences are where this work matters most.

About

Hi, I'm Brice.

I've done inclusion and equity work since 2009, mostly in healthcare, education, and nonprofits, partnering with more than 200 organizations along the way. I served as VP of DEI at Beech Acres Parenting Center and today work in civil rights at the University of Cincinnati.

For five cohorts I directed UC's Racial Awareness Program, a nine-month experiential intergroup dialogue program I first joined as a student. I've also been a senior consultant with Avant Consulting Group, a senior facilitator with Cohear, and a partnerships manager with Public Allies.

I've been a featured expert on WKRC Local 12 and given keynotes for Make-A-Wish and the Ohio Children's Alliance. I'm a graduate of School Board School Cincinnati and was part of Greater Cincinnati's Data for Equity cohort.

I hold a BS in Information Technology and a Graduate Certificate in Higher Educational Leadership from UC, and a DEI certificate from Cornell University.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work virtually or in person?

Both. I'm based in Cincinnati and travel for in-person work. Virtual sessions are built to be just as interactive.

What size groups do you work with?

Anything from a small leadership team or caucus to a full staff, conference audience, or district-wide training.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the format, length, and amount of custom design. I'll give you a clear quote after our first call, and I have never turned down a client solely because their budget was too small.

Some of our people are skeptical. Is that a problem?

No. Resistant and reluctant audiences are where I do some of my best work. I meet people where they are and keep the room safe for honest conversation.

Can you work within our policies and today's legal climate?

Yes. I stay current on changing laws and policies and design sessions that fit what your organization can and needs to do.

Let's talk about what your team needs.

Email me a little about your organization and what's prompting the conversation. I'll follow up to set up a free 30-minute consultation.
